can you monitor a digital cell phone with a communications receiver?

I'm not too sure which systems are still working in the US.<p>If you are talking about an AMPS system then yes, with two communication receivers it would be possible. However the liklehood of you (assuming your not a governmental agency) of getting the frequency of both halves of the conversation would be quite slim.<p>If you are thinking of GSM or CDMA then the answer is no - not without some highly specialist equipment. For a start you would have to find (in the case of CDMA) which time slice had been allocated and channel plus you would have to also find the return channel time slice etc. <p>You would also have to find which base station switch was being used.<p>So my advice is join the secret service of your country and the toys will be yours.<p>OK big brother I know your intercepting emails so if I return to the UK any chance of a job at Cheltenham????
