Hmmm......

All the TV/Monitors that I worked on, had the adhesive backing on the LEDs strips.
{LG's, Samsung, Philips, Insignia, ACER.}
What brand, and how old was it?

It just might be that it was one of the early TV/Monitor's that the manufacturer adopted using the LED's, instead of CFL bulbs for the back light.

I remember a few times i replaced all the ccfl tubes.
they would usually pack them well, but they always sent 1 or 2 extras, just in case 1 got broke.
some of them were thin as spaghettis It's a wonder they could be made.
