Toroid Core Material

Post by lkraemer »

I am trying to locate some Toroids that have the same physical Core properties as a 768T188/3E2A made by Ferrocube, but with a physical size that is about the same as an FT-50 or FT-82 or FT-87.

Any help on what the 768T188/3E2A Core is would be helpful, since I know nothing about Toroids.
Thanks.
Larry

Ferrocube ought to tell you the characteristics of that core, then look up those specs in an Amidon chart. Or, contact Amidon and request a cross reference.
The ARRL Handbook has characteristics for Amidon cores- maybe your local library has a copy.
Hope this helps.

“Six munths agoe I cut’ent evin spel phaerocoobe. Yuk, but now I noes itz Ferroxcube”……so do not go directly to jail and do not collect $200.00 ,
but instead go directly to their website home for all their data + sheets.
http://www.ferroxcube.com
http://www.elnamagnetics.com/library/ca ... rial_Statu s_Sheet_2003.pdf
Looks like the 3E27’s formulation is currently used for replacing it
http://www.ferroxcube.com/prod/assets/3e27.pdf
BUT, your original number referenced is available surplus for 69 cents a copy, here:

It's been a very long time since I have ordered ferrite. But I think 3E2A is the core material designation (industry standard). Additionally, I think it is a fairly common one (as my experiance is fairly limited and 3E2A sounds familiar to me)
