Re: Are most people here Electrical/Electronics engineers?
I am an engineering tech for an aerospace company.I am actually an outcast since our department is responsible for analog and power supply designs. If there are any analog engineers out there,my place is looking for them.Actually, they are looking for all disciplines.

Re: hp oscilloscope no model number to be found
If you do a search for equipment manuals,You should get a listing for the 'Boatanchors' web site. They have many manuals for retired military radio's and test equipment. Also try through epanorama.net.It sounds as if you might be missing a separate power conditioner or supply.
Al Sekeet S.M.A.L. Re: "flashing" LED
Your led probable burned up due to passing too much current. You need to have a limiting resistor in series.
Yes, there are led's made with built in flasher. They are available from Digikey.Youcan also find direct replacements for incandescents.Search through the company listings at ledmarketplace.c...

Re: RF Transmitters and Receivers
I don't know what your budget is(probably zilch) but there are 900mHz transmitter/receiver modules that are self contained. They run about $25.00 per end.You add single side supply and antenna plus any audio circuitry needed. I believe that one of the companies providing these is called Linx Systems....

Re: yet another 555 question.
Go to epanorama.net or web ee.They have lots of links to ideas, circuit configurations, and 555 calculators. I do find it odd that you are having a hard time finding the circuit you want. The 555 was the most experimented with IC on the planet until stamp computers came along. Try expanging your web se...

To add to the above,if you have the unit open and connected to power, see what the voltage drop across the diode is.If it is .7,it is conducting.

A transformer would be the best way. There are telco transformers available from just about any surplus or catalog house. You can also try the Pico website for part number information.Look at epanorama.net for detailed instructions on signal splitting.

Re: "Phantom power 4 mic. "
It sounds like you are using what is known as an 'electret'microphone capsule. If so,there is a JFET in there that needs to be biased. You can do this by applying 1.5 to 5 volts dc to the high side lead, the other lead being (-) or ground. You should also put a series resistor in for current limiting sa...

Re: power supply hum problem
The transformer may not have enough current available to keep the caps filled up.If you have a scope, check the output ripple.Be careful that you don't exceed the input voltage rating of the scope though.
AL
