USB Joystick

I would like to add a USB joystick to my robot.
I see that Microchip has a processor set up for USB, but I have very little knowlege about usb, or how usb joysticks communicate.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for info?

Hi there,

I checked two of their chips, and could not find a programmer for
those chips other than one for $900 USD.
You may have to ask on the Microchip Forum site.

You will need to build a host controller. Microchip has chips that are setup for devices but not controllers.

I would also pick a chip from the PIC18F for USB interface.. so I would then download this software for free..

I would look into different types of programmers..

If you cant find anything cheap.. try TI's MSP430 or ATMELs micros.
