I've got an LG TV that works perfectly, however, it has a problem with no apparent
resolution. There are numerous posts on cable tv/satellite forums about this problem.
LG technical support has received many customer complaints. I'm posting at Nut & Volts
because you guys have technical know-how not available at other forums.

Several LG TV models connected to any type of cable/satellite box causes a message
to appear each time the TV is powered up. There seems to be no way to permanently
cancel this message.

Ticking "Do not show message again" does nothing. I've tinkered with dozens of menu
settings. That doesn't work either. The message times out after 25 seconds and vanishes
from the screen. Unplugging or "resetting" the TV and cable box does not fix the problem.
If you're using an aftermarket remote, pressing TV > Exit will terminate the message.

I don't want to toss a functional TV in the garbage, but I will if this message cannot be
eliminated. It's making me crazy.

First off......
What is the model Number?

Option (1)
Updating Firmware
Does it have USB Ports for viewing Pictures or Movies stored on a USB Device{Thumb Memory Stick, External USB Hard Drive}.
Or
Some sort of access port.

Now LG and a lot of other companies don't like tell the end users about Firmware Updates for they're older products.
And doing the Firmware Update can involve a computer, special cable, and software program for installing the Firmware Update.
Something that only an LG Repair Center, or some repair shops will have.

Option (2)
Updating Firmware from Internet
On some sets that have LAN or WIFI, you can get in to the Television Setup Menu.
Make sure the set is connected to your Router/Modem.
And in the Setup Menu, find the Firmware Update option and click on it.

Option (3)
One thing you can try is a Factory Reset.
This will wipe out all the presets, and bring the set to it's factory default settings.
You'll then need to redo all the presets, and other settings you had set before doing the Factory Reset.
{Note: Doing a Factory Reset is not the same for every Model.}

It's not difficult to find posts about this problem at other forums. The replies usually are
"ask someone at LG." I've read a couple of meaningless replies from LG representatives.

I've got two of those "really big" TV's that you hang on the wall. I wanted a small TV mounted
on portable cart, so I built a cart in my shop. I watch this 22" TV most of the time, because I
can pull the cart close and watch without eyeglasses.

Model Number is 22LB4510

The owner's manual can viewed or downloaded here:

Page 17 of the printed manual shows all the ports. The HDMI port is connected to my
cable box.

The menu headings are Picture, Audio, Channel, Time, Option, Lock, Input, and USB.
There is no USB port, so that USB menu item is not functional. I cannot find an option
that will reset to factory defaults. It's not listed under any of the menu headings.

Oh Boy.......
How long ago did you get this Monitor/TV, and was it perhaps on sale?

When Manufacturer's were starting to roll out more 4K Monitor/TV's.
They had to get rid of the older stock of HD Monitor/TV's.
Thus, there were a bunch of these "Stripped Down" HD Monitor/TV's that were sold in stores.
{Walmart, Target, Costco, Etc....}
And you could get them for around $100 or less.

I've seen this a lot.
To cut the price, on the Item.
They will leave out the programing port, or software to do updates to the firmware.
In they're thinking that the Monitor/TV's will be replaced in 2-3 years.
Thus, not worth putting it in to the unit in the first place.

If you can't get into this Setup Menu.
Then your Monitor/TV doesn't have it.

So, your maybe out of luck.

When I built a portable cart, I wanted a "bare bones" TV. The reviews for this model
said things like, "don't be fooled by the small size, the picture quality is very good."

Except for that "Is the input connect to your PC?" message that won't go away, I like
this basic LG TV.

You are correct about this simplified TV. There is no "Setup" menu heading.

I was thinking about donating this TV to Goodwill, but inflicting that endless message
on another person would not be fair.

I couldn't see anything in the literature provided by both, but is there a spot (a small button or hole) on the TV that says Reset? Maybe on the very bottom of the screen bezel or tucked into a corner of any of the cabling areas?

Only thing I found, in the Operators Manual was on page 21.

To return to initial settings:

On the remote:
SETTINGS > OPTION > initial settings

Returns to initial default mode by deleting all optional setup.
Once initialization is completed, the TV will turn off and on by itself.

When Lock System is in place, a pop-up window appears and asks for password.
WARNING! Do not turn off the power during initialization! WARNING!

I have never been able to get much help from ShopJimmy, they keep replying , saying they aren't techs.. maybe they have a forum that i don't know about..
I got a VISIO 55" I'll call it a monitor since it has no tuner, just HDMI and some RCA connectors. Anyway the screen looks like a disco when it warms up, i think the backlight leds are shot. It's got several strips in it.. I'm thinking to order a set from Shopjimmy.. only about 60$ I'll dismantle it 1st, just incase the screen cracks,,

What do you mean by "Disco"?
Are there only some areas of the screen being lit?
If so, then yeah, some of the LED's on the LightStrips have burned out.

If the image itself is multi-colored, and scrambled.
Then it is most likely the T-CON board that interfaces directly to the LCD Screen.

P.S. Get a pair of suction cups. It'll make handling the LCD Screen a lot easier.

By disco, i meant that light strips were turning on / off / flashing etc..
The video is just fine.. I took the tv apart , I got the screen off ok.
So i went and ordered new led strips from Jimmy's I wanted to make sure i got it apart ok,,just in case the screen cracked or whatever..
14 strips in total.. about $65.00
I'll keep ya posted

Sounds like cold solder joint somewhere in circuit that regulates current to LED strips. Or supply voltage to that section dips below forward voltage sum of LEDS, sudden decrease in current load lets voltage rise. Round and round you go!
