I think I'm Done with NV.
The spam has taken over the site....
I'll check in once in a while,, but i think this Forum is toast..
Unless someone steps in and saves it..

I'm going to call again tomorrow. Sean is definitely MIA. I've suggested on numerous occasions they bring back the volunteer mods, but give them the ability to ban, preferably by IP. We'll see.

I truly wish I had the technical expertise to help with the proliferation of spam on this site.
Us that have been here for awhile have gained much knowledge and joy from NV, but that joy is dissipating.

It's not fun anymore. I do believe that if you have any conversations that you really wish to save save, do it now. Who knows what will happen. I'm still waiting on multiple responses.

Certainly stricter new member vetting would stop the bulk of the nonsense. The spam's date and time is often only minutes after the spammer's registration info!

Not sinking, just a bit adrift. I keep trying to get others to come around. We could use some new blood to help get things going again. I think it may be the format, though this is just so easy to read and deal with. Other formats, some based on Facebook can be harder to navigate. Wish I could say what would bring people back.

Have you noticed anything in the last few weeks re: Spam? It may still get through, but it is dealt with rather quickly. All depends on if I'm on when it hits. Otherwise I check multiple times a day.

I've got some stuff I'll be working on come summertime, so I hope to be cross posting on several sites. We'll see how far I get by then.

Did you talk with Sean, and other Admin's, and got them too allow you to have Moderator privileges?
Or, has Sean and Larry decided to monitor the site more?

Either way, the Spam that had showed up earlier today has been removed.

Good catch dyarker. That spam actually had 2 links. I guess they'll never know the meaning of "once in the blue moon."

Hmmm.........

I got blocked again using my old E-mail Address.
{Yes, I changed my E-mail password.}

I went and changed my account settings here to use my new E-mail Address.
That seems to have stopped the IP address blocking for now.
