LED 5x7 matrix driver needed

Post by sign6477 » Wed Jun 26, 2002 3:11 am

I'm searching for someone to provide a 5x7 matrix driver for led clusters. The Led clusters are 24Vdc, 60Ma each. This is for a display that will count up or down pricing. The display is 3 digits with a static decimal point EX: 1.11,1.12,1.13 etc. Any information on surplus, or new. I would be interested in contracting someone to build these units for me.
Brian

I assume you have BCD input, so you need 3, one of ten decoders. Each output will be resistor ORed to 35 switches which drive the LEDs. I am not interested in building such a monstrosity.

Take a look at http://www.maxim-ic.com/appnotes.cfm/ap ... 1033/ln/en for some info from Maxim about their MAX6952 and MAX6953 chips. They operate up to 4 5x7 LED displays via a I2C or SPI bus. Also search for just "led matrix" on www.maxim-ic.com for other application notes.
You might also look (if interested in 8x8/8x16 displays) at http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/slas264a/slas264a.pdf for the TI TLC5920 chip.
