Maybe this is already available for reasonable cost, but if not, I'd like to build it:
A small, battery powered audio recording device that has sound-actuated recording, with a date/time stamp. Since the device may be left operating unattended for days, a SD card (easily replaced) form of recording is preferred. Computerized analysis software of the recordings would be great. (Basic plotting of sound intensity vs. time)
Digital voice recorders have some of the requirements, but are battery hogs, and in order to interpret the results, one has to sit there in real time and listen to every minute of recording.
A digital display log would be ideal.
The application is to monitor time of event, and intensity around a gun range.
Looking for ideas.
