Next project...
Son is looking to pimp out his concert helmet (yes, the band encourages costumes). We've already installed
LED lighting around the face - lights it up in the vein of the space helmets in 2001 - A Space Odyssey. Now
he wants to be able to pulse some LEDs to the beat of the music, specifically the bass or drums. So I dug up
a 3 band Color Organ schematic that uses LEDs and battery power and am going to use just the bass/low
frequency section. He thought maybe he could use a piezo disc as the pickup instead of a mic element.
Now for the question...
What kind of voltage (milli?) can we expect from a piezo disc at concert levels? I think it would be cool to
mount it about where the mouth would be, but on the outside. If the piezo cannot get more than a few
millivolts, then I guess we'll go with the externally mounted mic.
Thanks for any and all help.

Hey, what do I know?
Re: Piezo triggered color organ
Well, I guess no one has any info or this is just not that interesting. Maybe he'll just
go with a mic as we have found some really small units for sale. Thanks anyway.
