23 February 2003 Hamfest in Virginia near DC

Post by N5SK »

Highlights for the VWS Winterfest Hamfest for Sunday, 23 February 2003:
The Vienna Wireless Society's annual Winterfest Hamfest will be on Sunday, 23 February 2003 in the Northern Virginia Community College's Ernst Cultural Center, 8333 Little River Turnpike (Route 236) in Annandale, VA (less than one mile from the Capital Beltway Route 495 around Washington, D.C.).
We have lined up some outstanding speakers for Winterfest: Mike Martin (K3RFI) will give his presentation on the causes and cures of Radio Frequency Interference. ARRL Roanoke Division Director Dennis Bodson (W4PWF) will present League news and views.
The indoor area opens 8 AM. Admission is $6, and indoor tables are available for $20 each. Talk-in is on 146.91(-).
Everyone wanting to reserve inside tables now is encouraged to call Dave, K3MV on 703-925-0584 or E-Mail [email protected]
Please also see http://www.viennawireless.org and click on the Winterfest link (just under the picture at the top of the page) for more information.
ARRL VE exams will be given at 9 AM (Sharp!) on Saturday, 22 January 2003 (the day BEFORE the Winterfest Hamfest), also in the Ernst Cultural Center.
Outdoor tailgating returns to Winterfest 2003 with 150 paved spaces at $15 each (which includes admission for one person) on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional tailgating spaces are just $10 each (after each initial $15 space) subject to availability.
Just like previous Winterfest Hamfests at this location, food will again be available for purchase from Vie de France (which is certainly a step up from the usual hamfest fare).
So come ye all to Winterfest on Sunday, February 23, to enjoy the tailgating, partake of the good Vie de France food, listen to the stimulating speakers and browse through the treasures inside the Ernst Center at the Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA.
See you there!
