The popping you mention sounds like the output used is completely cut off from the audio
circuit, possibly by a relay? Kind of like what you would get from an old cheap amp from
the 60's that had no soft start or anything. If it is a line level signal going to the amplified
speakers, you could either capacitively couple it in line or maybe use a 1 Meg resistor from
signal to ground to help bypass such surges.
You can find info on that at http://www.geofex.com/. Look at the FX Projects on the side
and the Dallas Rangemaster and How to Build One. You'll find it in the PDF file.
Strange you should have a problem like that in a new TV. So much for progress.

SPDIF to Analog Converter?
Re: SPDIF to Analog Converter?
Hey, what do I know?
Re: SPDIF to Analog Converter?
Hi Ceasar,
Thanks for the tips.
I noticed that page has a lot of missing links however![Smile ](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
You made me also realize that i havent made any measurements yet to try to determine what
exactly causes this pop sound. It's when the tv is switched (via remote) from 'muted' to
non muted. Quite annoying. I'll make some measurements (ac and dc) and see what i can
find out.
