Anyone make anything interesting for christmas ?

Post by dacflyer »

Over the years I have made small electronic circuit board trees with bunches of leds etc.
some were kits, a few totally home made.. I don't know why the preview is sideways... They are proper when you click on them....

Nothing special, just have to make up a 15" patch cord (guitar pedal) and that's it. No time for much else this year.
Hey, what do I know?

I'm trying to revamp my analog looking led clock. Mainly need to rewire the display..
going to make it also GPS and RTC. Nice clock, but annoying to set the time, each time there's a power glitch..
and sometimes strong EMF will make the time go into Ludicrous speed...lol
I'm Using an Arduino and a sketch for a 8x8 dot display ( 1 led dot on at a time,, for clock face display testing,, make sure i got it all wired up right.)
Once the display is wired, I'll have a friend fix up some code for me.. he's helped me a few times before..He helps make my ideas come to life..

"Ludicrous speed? As long as they don't go plaid..."🤣🤣

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, etc. (To many specific celebrations/observances to list)

. . . make it also GPS and RTC.
By GPS, do you mean time syncronised to GPS?

If it tells time of day, it already is RTC. Add day, month and year for complete RTC?

Merry Christmas, and if you go out to party on New Year's eve don't forget taxi money.

The RTC module has battery back up , is for start up / time set after power loss.. until GPS is linked..or loss of signal..

I'm finally refurbishing my Marantz SR2000 Tuner from 1980. After replacing the fried Rectifiers and testing all the caps, I discovered the main amplifier on the right channel was shorted to the supply with the speaker at 38V (probably why the rectifiers shorted if that happened with an 8 ohm load). Good thing I didn't hook up my speakers. In any case, to my delight, found some in China on ebay for $7 each, should have them by Feb, shipped yesterday. I'll post more later with some photos.

Can't wait to hear it again, it has such a sweet warm sound (through BSR 16 channel EQ and Scott speakers and BOSE 201 spkrs). I recall it had audio leakage between FM and tape mon so I still need to find probably a leaky cap somewhere, but the service manual is available making it all quite possible.
