I have a very common import (SWT-508) wire cutting/stripping machine and am considering making a different set of blades to expand it's capability.
There are two identical blades, made of flat steel , with a 'V' notch and 2 mounting holes. They operate vertically in opposing directions, making a open diamond shape and to cut they they slide together closing the opening.
I want to cut .375 OD polyvinyl tubing and the present blades do cut it well, but the tubing gets caught in the blade's narrow 'V' opening, jamming the feed and stopping the show. The machine looks like it has adequate space for wider blades so what I think would work is the same blade configuration but with a larger 'V' opening to pass the tubing freely. The importer/seller does not seem to interested in spare parts or the extra blade business! They provided a spare set of blades but they are the same type, and too narrow to modify.
So, if anyone still hanging out here has experience in knife making, or working with tool steel that can offer ideas or opinions, it would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Any knife makers out there?

you want a Tool and Die making Machine shop, A map search shows a few in MD. Sounds like a machine shop job but one that can cut tool steel. its going to cost several hundred, maybe less if you have an existing die they can modify with a custom sharpening.
Check with these guys, maybe something crosses over or they can point to a custom cutter
