Anybody playing with these techy gadgets?
My DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus uses 5.8 GHz for flight control, while sending back video on 2.4 GHz. Fairly fancy comm network!
Next big industry will be how to disable them in flight, if they pose a threat!

Yeah, people get upset by the noise from a shotgun. When the paparazzi start using them there will be plenty that need bringing down!Next big industry will be how to disable them in flight, if they pose a threat!

A friend of mid brought his Phantom drone to my place and I "flew it" It was really odd to me, being an RC and full scale pilot, that I had to think about every input since I was, in my mind, "telling it where to go" not "telling it what to do" I had a blast, we shot some neat footage of my property, and in the end I felt quite old, having started flying control line, free flight and eventually RC back when in the 60's and 70's. To say things have evolved is a gross understatement!

Has the drone bug bit MicroRem?
They can be addictive! Only the imagination limits what one can do with a remote camera in 3D space.
I'm amazed that a large following of droners go long distance- out of sight, like several miles! Explore your neighborhood!

There is a competition to stop drones electronically, check out this nat geo program.

I only saw one drone while watching fireworks this year, I expect more next year.

Maybe, I am still trying to decide. Haha. I enjoy the "direct" connection to control surfaces without the computer interface, but with the newer radios even that line is starting to blur. I'm an analog guy in a digital world! I have started flying electric power, what a change the LiPo stuff is from my early attempts using heavy NiCads. The performance and convenience is amazing.
