Build PIC Trainer and Compiled Basic for the PIC by Thomas H

Post by DeanSander »

I have built the PIC Trainer on a perf board and the green LED lights up with power. I have downloaded the files associated with the projects. I would like to burn some of the programs Thomas has provided onto the PIC12F683 chip. I have downloaded the programs Thomas used in the Compiled Basic for PIC article. Right of the bat, I'm having a problem. I'm using Win7, and have a question: How do I create and save the dummy program "dummy.gcb"? and could someone explain step 2 in a little more detail. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please just disregard my earlier post. I have included some images of the finished project. I made a couple of changes to the board: I used Andersen Power Poles, which I use on all my builds, and I wired in a power switch. I used my Microchip PICkit 2 to burn in the programs. I've had no experience with terminal programs, so if anyone would care to give me some pointers on what to use and how to use it, I would be most appreciative. I have included and image of the breadboard setup and images of the front and back.
