Google is a wonderful device isn't it. Except I can't find anything on it either.
"EG&G OPTOELECTRONICS VACTEC, Optoelectronics Data Book, Photoconductive Cells and Analog Optoesolators (Vactrols) November 1997" has considerable information on this subject.
Their address and phone number (1997) is 10900 Page Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63132 USA (314) 423-4900
Good Luck

Thanks for these sites, but I still can't find the optical and the electrical charactaristics for the PHOTO_RESISTORS such as:
* available values.
* max and min values as the light intensity changes.
and so on ........
Thanks for Help. :) :) :) :)

It appears that the Vactec product line was sold to Perkin Elmer. Some data sheets are on line at the Perkin-Elmer web site (www.perkin-elmer.com) in the optoelectronics section.
Clairex (www.clairex.com) discontinued their photoconductor line, but some data sheet are still on their web site.
[ October 07, 2003: Message edited by: stephen ]

Optoelectronics section of Perkin-Elmer appears to have been discontinued?
When searched for VTL5C1 (Part number) got WWW.AIKENAMPS.COM and some other interesting sites.

If you're just looking for something to experiment with, Radio Shack has a multi-pack of photocells for a couple of bucks (276-1657). Not so tightly spec'ed as some others, but they make up for it with quantity. Here's the RS data sheet...
RS 276-1657 data sheet.htm
Photoresistors have a frequency response and reaction time similar to that of the human eye. They were a favorite of Forrest Mims III, who used to write for one of the hobbyist magazines a while back. He's currently working with GLOBE, an international science education project. Back when he was writing for Modern Electronics, I used to flip the magazine open to his articles first every month. His explanations made the craft seem easy, and he made it fun. No higher praise can be given to a good science teacher.
Good luck.

The Perkin Elmer site appears to be changing overnight (literally). A slightly different address (www.optoelectronics.perkinelmer.com) appears to be working today.
Using search for a specific device (VTL5C1) also gives you access to the ap notes and a .PDF version of their data book (76 pages).
[ October 07, 2003: Message edited by: stephen ]
