Hello everyone,

This is Jone from Canada. I am newbie in this forums. I think I am too late to come here so, sorry for that. But this is one type of interesting thread. Actually I am a Computer engineer I am working in IT company and I like to play games, making new good friends, go to long drive with friends.
Hopefully I posted this in the right section!

Welcome joanreed. If your looking for a thread to say hi and introduce yourself, this one is as good as any. However if you are looking for an interesting topic to contribute to, this ones about as flat as they get.

In any case, I'm sure you'll get good answers to your electronics questions here as well as computer or robotics related questions in the other sections. Hope to hear more from you.

Not only the signature but the improper English. Strange the OP opens up personal data but left her profile empty. Don't know if shes looking for tech answers or a 'Soul Mate'

I think this whole post should be deleted. There are no questions or answers here- just a waste of forum space. For all we know, all these posters are the same person, be them male or female from God only knows what location.

Hi all,
I think I introduced myself already, but if not.....

My name is Isidro, but everyone calls me Sid. I am a USPS Maintenance Postal Supervisor from the Chicago area. I have worked in electronics for more than 20 years as Electronic technician, Engineering Technician, Engineer, Bench Tech, Game tech...etc.

I hope to add my two cents and give the best advice I can and I am sure I can find valuable nuggets of knowledge myself on this site. I am into PIC programming and my grandson and I are avid LegoManiacs. I used to subscribe to Pop Elect beforfe it went belly up and now subscribe to Nuts&Volts. Hope I can be of service. Nice to meet you all.

Have a great day.....

Sid

Hi Sid,

So you must be familiar with those 100 foot long Honeywell mail sorting machines, right? The ones that require vacuuming all the paper dust out of the mechanics every 8 hours.....Yeesh! Do those things have metric or SAE nuts and bolts in the US? They are metric in Canada.

I still think it is fascinating to see how fast they gobble up incoming mail envelopes, and add those optically read zip code bars to every last one! The darned things literally chew up and mangle envelopes with objects in them like pens or coins.

I figure any major post office could have one tech devoted to only changing ball bearings. There must be thousands of 'em, all running constantly, 24-7......

So how is USPS to work for? I have always wondered with all those stories about workers "going postal". Up here, Canada post treats new hires like boot camp. Steel-toed boot camp, hehehe... If you get sick and take a day off during your 3 months probation, you don't make it to permanent employee.

Don't want to take up too much of your "Hello to all..." posting.

Anyway, yes it works that way in the good ole USPS too. If you are late or call in for a day during your first 90 days, you are out!! Yes, the machines are fast, and they gobble up mail if it has pens or coins in them. But when there is good mail in them, they zip by (pun not intended) and sort with amazing speed. I don't remember seeing any made by Honeywell though. Most of them are made by Seimens or Northrup Grumman or some big US contractor. They come in many flavors too: Flat mail, letter mail, packages, bundles...etc.

So, do you work for the Canadian Post? 8)

Have a great day.....

Sid
