Long playing storm sound effects

Post by MrAl »

Hello there,

I am looking for some long playing sound effects, with would be a storm with lightning.
This would play for maybe 30 minutes or more.
I have found a million sound effects on the web just like what i want except they are
only 8 seconds long or even shorter. I know i can use a loop in programming but
that's not quite the same because you end up getting the same thing over and over.
The best thing would be a long playing storm sound effects wav or whatever.
Of course they offer this on CD, but i was hoping to get this for free download.

Let me recap:
1. Storm sounds (or brook or rain might be ok)
2. Long playing, 15 minutes perhaps or longer (even 1 minute would be a start but 10 seconds too short)
3. Free
4. Free
5. Free

Any ideas?

Lemme look as I have a couple sound effects recordings around here somewhere.

**Another thought, you could record the snippets off the web and splice them together. Need a freebie
recording app that'll do that? Got an old version of GoldWave that should work. It's fast, easy and intuitive.

Hi Ceasar,

Well i thought about the splicing and i can do that in programming, by playing one wav after another
and then maybe repeating some now and then, but one wav has louder volume than the other and
it doesnt mix well anyway because they sound different anyway.

Claims to be an hour and fifteen minutes long Thunderstorm Sound Clip

It's a remix but they've already done the work for you.

That's what is nice about a true recording app like GoldWave and Audacity, they allow you to fix
such problems and do fades, normalizations, echoes, etc.

The version of GoldWave I have was written for Win3.1, but works just fine on my XP SP2/3 systems.
the Zip file is only 276Kb. Plus it is a stand-alone program, no registry messing stuff. I've been using
it off and on for almost 10 years now - did all the wife's sound clips for her site that way. It is so quick
and easy I can have a 30 second sound clip recorded and ready for the web in about 2 minutes. That's
normalized, faded in/out and quality lowered to prevent serious duplication. Does WAV, VOC, AU, IFF,
MAT, and SND formats.

Hi again,

SET:
That was exactly what i was looking for! Thanks a bunch.
I found lots of rain and thunderstorm wav's on that site.

Ceasar:
I dont have to splice them together i dont think, but i guess it would
be interesting to look at.

MrAl,

I have tried several times to PM you with the freebie, but my version of PM won't allow even the most
basic types of attachments (.txt, .jpg, .zip, etc.), so I gave up on that avenue. The email button in
your profile gave me the same problem. If you would PM me with your personal email, I'll be more than
happy to send it to you.
