Hi,

Wow, that's interesting because i have some red LEDs that had some foggie looking plastic
over the chips (the plastic wasnt clear like many LEDs) so i ground down all the plastic
so you can see the LED chip clearly. They might still work so i'll let them go for about
50 dollars for eight...he he he he...

That's one of the craziest selling ads i think i've ever seen.
LEDs vs Bulbs, LEDs are winning.

Actually if this poster is genuine I feel somewhat sad for him/her to have made such an error.

If you have a fuse of unknown condition, you can confirm its condition by wiring it across a car battery. If you see a flash, you know the fuse was good.

Bob,
Thanks for the neat tip!
I forgot that I used same technique years ago to test flashbulbs, it works great.

Dacflyer,
Yes, since I quit smoking a half a lifetime ago, I have run out of those handy foil repair kits.
Gee, I wonder if they were really semi-conductors, since, one side conducted and the other didn't! :???:

Just an aside...
Years ago when I rented a house in the UK, fuse wire was the norm for the 'mains' protection from the service to the branch circuits. It was connected across a ceramic cartridge with brass caps at the ends with screws for the wire. The grocery stores sold the fuse wire. It was small coils of several gauges, wound on a hang-up card. A recent trip showed that breakers were now the in-thing.
