Hi dacflyer,

You do know that FUNAI now owns, and does the support for Emerson now?
Here's the support site.

Buy it here for around $8.00 (download)

http://www.servicemanuals.net/OwnersMan ... sults.aspx

I went through the entire Funai site for the service manual but that model isn't listed. MIGHT be a Memorex product but npt sure...

OK, This won't help with your TV but I did just find a very useful site with manuals of all kinds of test equipment, particularly older, and obsolete models. And I just had to share it

Really useful but I found it slow and often asking me to login to FTP which I don't have a login for. Doesn't appear to allow simultaneous downloads.
http://bama.sbc.edu/

Or its Mirror site which runs much faster and allows multiple downloads
http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/

I was hunting for Tektronics manuals and was expecting to find them on a pay site but this had exactly what I needed for FREE.

Sounds like you are going to have to make a guess at the nearest model without Dora. Perhaps a clue from the markings on the PCB inside? Try models that contain 314 without the DTE in front or look for similar size and tuner from about the same year.

I'd ask what's wrong with it but that will just lead to lots of guesses on how to fix it which all lead back to a need for a schematic.

well its really weird, the PS is dead, its a switcher, no opto isolator type, just a feedback resistor, i have checked everything in the ps, and still cannot find out why it will not fire up..everything checks out ok, theres not much to it. but i just won't start. i do not know what or if theres anything special about this set or not, looks like a normal tv otherwise.

It sounds like the power supply is going into shut down.

Is the HOT Ok?

Normally a shorted, or open Horizontal Output Transistor will cause X-ray/ High Voltage Shut Down Circuit to kick in.

Do you have an AC Variac Autotransformer that you can slowly bring the AC power up?

If you do, put an AC amp meter on the set.
Slowly bring the voltage up, as you reach 50Vac, 60Vac, 80Vac possibly.
You should hear the supply trying to kick start the HOT.
Watch your Amp meter.
If it jumps over 3 Amps and the the supply shut down.
Then it is definitely something in the HOT Circuit, or some how linked to it.

I would also take haklesup advice.
Look for sets of the same size, and model year for a schematic that would be close.

the set does not even have stand by output from same supply, i have disconnected HOT circuits, they are ok, i never get my B+

i even looked for a chassis number for this set, there is not one..
and its almost impossible to match the board with others, especially when theres no fotos readily available. figgured if i could cross the flyback, i may have luck as to which other sets may use the same flyback..
no luck.

i'd hate to shitcan this set, it looks practly new, and it was made in 2005.
i may call a few tv shops, maybe they might have a clue..
wish me luck.

If its an NTSC set, it may just be a suicide.

If you have disconnected the P/S outputs and still get no output voltage than I would think you have effectively isolated the problem to the P/S.

Naturally if you disconnect the P/S output from the rest of the TV and the voltage is restored, then you have a short in the set after the supply.

It wasn't clear how completely you opened these connections or if its even possible (not on a connector)

OMG....
It's one of theses sets that only a limited number were made.
Thus, schematics were not put out for it.

I came a cross another Emerson model EWC1301.
But it is a VCR/TV Comb Unit.
No luck for a schematic on it either.
{This Dora The Explorer Unit, is it a comb unit by chance?}
