Sentry Gun project

Post by zunayed »

Hi, me and my friends are currently planning to build a sentry gun based on this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxBa5bQfTGc

I was just wondering what kind of servo and rotary would you need to be able to move a paintball gun (weight: 2lbs 15 ounces).

Me and my friends would like to build one rather then just purchase it.

It would give us practice with servo boards and programming and overall just be much more satisfying to know we made it ourselves:)

So you're not into paint ball? But do know about
hardware and software?

I understand. Do you have any of the hardware
or written any software already?

Do you have a paint ball gun? TV camera?

Yea we do have a paintball gun and the camera we are going to be using is a webcam which we can manipulate through mat lab and then eventually c++ or C#.

So you have two concurrent tasks. Use the webcam
and your own software to detect a moving object.
You can estimate the magnitude of the object by
reviewing the youtube video where they track a
ball dropped from a rooftop.

The second task is to attach the paint ball gun to
a X-Y-Z mechanism and provide servos that move
it around. (but I guess you're already ahead of me,
and that prompted your first question).

Do you have the paint ball gun attached to a platform?
