stock car audio amps... possibly GM type.

Post by dacflyer »

i went flea marking this weekend and came across 2 car amps. i got them both for $5.00 they are single channel base amp. and speaker is common ground. and it has a remote turn on. they are a stock item, not after market.

i did get them to work after in opened them up and traced them out.
nice little amps, unknown power, i guess about 50 watts or so.
only info i have is a purple and white barcode sticker and some numbers,
F7ZF-18C808-AA i know its nothing to go on..i am just currious if anyone had any info on these units. they are both identical , same bar codes
i had a different one a few months ago..and it was a flat amp,
these i got are base amps. no adjustments at all.
i am wondering if i can modify them to be a flat amp. Hmmmm

hi

you would just have to remove the bandpass filter and make sure you dont over load the input.

i was thinking that, but without a schematic, its almost impossible, all the parts in it are house marked..

dacflyer,

Those amplifiers are Ford OEM's
Mainly for Ford Mustangs.
There know as Mach 460's
This site has the Amps and wiring harnesses.

and i did find more info.. http://www.flemworld.com/
even a wiring schematic...
i at least have an idea of how powerful the amp is now..
it is a very simple amp and the speakers are a common ground, not isolated like other amps.

More likely 18W amps unless there is a DC to DC converter inside. At 12V and 8 ohm speakers you get P=V^2/R=18W or 36W with a 4 ohm speaker. To get to a higher wattage, the amp must produce a higher voltage before the final boost stage.
