IR Extender

I am interested in a circuit for a wired (not RF) IR extender so I can locate the remote control and the controlled device in different rooms.

It seems like your kicker was ....wired not RF.
Seems like everything offered is RF. The last thing in your category I remembered was the first generation of wascally wabbits (RABBITS)

I,personally,would tend to the interfacing in of the little enclosed 3 term self contained / shielded infrared modules in place of the simple
IR detector diode... they are available from RS.
