Cheap sound generatot

Looking to add engine sounds to a childs electric motor driven vehicle. Any ideas as to where to go to look?

Remember cliping a playing card to the fork of your bicycle with a clothspin? Use a small low speed electric motor with sprocket or gear and some springy metal to flap on it.

Want something that would give real engine sounds, perhaps related to the rpm of electric motor or accelerator position. would be nice to be able to generate Porshe or Viper sound. Thanks,

Well, I don't know about porche or viper sounds, but there is an old sound generator chip sn76477. There ia a radio shack app note and a popular electronics article about it. They describe a circuit for race car engine sounds, but I've never heard it. Here is a site with the data sheet, app notes and articles.......and my first try at UBB code without a long URL ......
