I've seen rgb ones at Menards. Cheap too. I can't tell if they're one RGB led or three LEDs. They seem to fade between colors.

On a side note, they had a tree with LEDs already built into it for lights. The LEDs were bluish white, but the PWM on the lights was too slow and you could see a noticeable flicker to them, almost like a bad fluorescent light. It kind of hurt your eyes to look at it. It did a really good job of attracting your attention though, so maybe if you covered it with advertisements it would be an effective strategy.

I've seen both. At first I though this will be a great way to get colorful LEDs cheap, but the more I think about it, the more I suspect the logic that changes the color is probably integrated into the LED and uncontrollable. I'm going to go right after Christmas and pick some up, maybe sooner, assuming they're still in stock.

the ones in the link i provided, the leds are concealed into a C9 led. and i assume the controller is at the front of the string.

as for individual leds..i seen some that have a built in circuitry
alltronics sells them as part

# led-87 this one cycles thru colors fast, then waves thru fast .
was $3.75ea - [email protected] - [email protected]

# led-95 this one changes colors fast for a few seconds, then slowly waves thru them for a few more seconds
was $3.75ea - [email protected] - [email protected]

if these wern't too expencive, i'd buy some and make my own. :P
