Hello again Robert,
Feel free to PM me if you like, or make a post pointing out
that there are posts to delete, putting it in the "General"
catagory where any of the moderators can see it. It can
always be deleted once the others are taken out.
I visit the General catagory two or more times a day
so it shouldnt take long for me to see it if it's there.
I visit the other catagories too but not as often.
I was also thinking maybe it would be nice to have a link
to the actual first message in the off-beat topic, where one
of the moderators can click, get there, and delete, within a
few seconds! This would work especially nice if there are
more than one annoying topics...several links would get
a moderator there quick!
I'll also start checking my PM's now...i see you have to log
in to do this so i'll try to get it to auto log me in when i visit the
site. Funny, it used to do this a long time ago.
It's nice now that we can get rid of these silly off the wall subjects

hello to whoever,, i frequent the forum 3-4 or more times a day...
i really would like to be a spaminator if you would let me..
thanks..
also heres another idea.. i seen in many other forums and even in e-bay
when you register or post a reply, you have to type in what you see in a blurred box. before the message will go thru or before you can register.
i tried to upload an image. but it will not load for some reason.. but i think you know what i am talking about.. i figgured that this would stop them automated-spammers

Dacflyer,
These spammers aren't using automated software to join, and that is where the problem lies in the membership part.
Whilst they manage to post at more or less the same time, I suspect that they are either part of a spammers ring (if such a thing exists, and why not?) or one or two use NAT to give false IP's and are probably the same person.

On a clear disk you can seek forever.
I don't want to start any conflict, but one of the spammers claimed that they were using forum automated software, claiming he was using a program called XRumer. You could find more info about here: http://www.botmaster.net/more1/bodgy wrote:Dacflyer,

The admins could use mods off here: (sorry for the double linking) http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/catdb.php?cat=57, to block users that are using proxies. Then since they can't use proxies, they'll have to use their own IP addresses which you can block next.
Some MODs that could be very useful for this forum:
* Adding visual confirmation to registration: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=266787
* Block usage of proxies: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=248252
* Posts that contain inappropriate language or talk about stuff non-related to electronics usually means spam. You could define a dictionary of spam words and block posts containing them. This can be very handy cutting down profanity, abuse, etc.: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=354376
* You can also check members email address to see if it is valid by checking their MX record of the domain address: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=458856
