D Cell Battery Leak Clean up

Post by cato »

Does know a way to clean up that brown pasty goop that sometimes oozes from old batteries? Backing soda? Lemon Juice? Coke a Cola? Sand blasting?

I have always used white vinegar on the plastics, and fine sandpaper on he metal contacts, and have found that it works well.

Back and forth between baking soda and a brush to neutralize it, and alcohol to remove any residue. Then hot water if applicable. Wire brush and baking soda if on metal and repeat the above. Then wash or clean with a rag.
