SPAM
I know this topic is offbeat from my usual posts, but it is getting annoying and something should be done about it. Why are we getting so much spam since the format conversion on this forum? In my relatively short time as a member, I don't recall seeing any of this prior to the change. Some of you long time members may have seen this in the past, or maybe not . Also, why isn't the moderator deleting this crap? Are you aware of this Michael?

It's the ones that sneak in with an innocuous title that bother me. If I see the word "####3", I know what it is but I hate being suckered into a view for a topic that is misleading.
Is it possible that there are bots that automate forum spam postings? Is the new forum software more susceptible to them?

Viruses, worms spam and bots are all written to exploit well meaning features in programs and turn them into weaknesses. It seems the old BBS was obsolete and not worth writing a BOT for but since this new one is popular webwide, we have to deal with the intrusions.
Worse than annoying us, they are robbing us of the features and power that program designers intended. We now have to live with dumb programs with little automation because spammers etc can't play nice. Its not much different from tagging really, just no spraypaint to clean off the wall.

I'm new so I know I don't have any room to complain but I'm still curious. I understand a couple spammers getting through and being able to post spam but the same person more than once over several days (tatysskka5656)? Why hasn't tatysskka5656 been banned? After her/his/it's first post I think it's pretty obvious what their/it's intentions are. Is it just that much easier to delete the posts day after day than to block/ban/disable the person/computer so it never happens from them/it again?

hey,Michael
i seen in some websites, that you must read a blurred / deformed
picture numbers / letters and type them into a box before you can submit it for registration to become a member, or to post something on a site..
would that be an option to put here that would help weed out a bunch of the unwanted stuff ?.. if i understand right the bots etc cannot read them blurred items, and so they are unable to spam etc.
how bout it guys? if it can be done are you all willing to accept something like that if it will help out here a lot to weed out junk etc ?
i hope you know what i am talking about michael
