new in PIC assistance needed

I am an electronics enthusiast based in Lagos, Nigeria. I want help on getting started with PIC, such as to develop myself to the level of using it for electronic project of my choice. Consider the fact that materials for uderstanding PIC is not readily available here in Nigeria. Any help?

Well, there are the examples on the Microchip website www.microchip.com however some of those are badly written.<p>You could also look at the FTP site of www.epemag.wimborne.co.uk there are some tutorials there. If you are happy to spend some money then purchase either the paper back issues of April and May this year, they had a short beginners supplement for PICS (EPE mag only uses PIC's in their projects) or you can purchase a CD version or subscribe to their online copy.<p>Look at this site http://lupus.worldonline.es/ivantrue/tu ... links2.htm http://www.iptel-now.de/HOWTO/PIC/pic.html and there is a good series from Tony Nixon now at this place http://www.crowcroft.net/kitsrus/projects.zip<p>You could join the PICLIST www.piclist.com (free)and gain access to the archives - note before posting to this site read the way other people write as there are some on this list that can be more than a little grumpy in their replies if things aren't to their liking.<p>There are also pic groups at Yahoo there is also the pic webring<p>As for parts I assume that they may be difficult to come by in Nigeria - but I would suggest trying to get a starter kit of some kind - oh yes you could also look at www.voti.nl he not only has his own language JAL but also a programmer kit that might get you going - it is inexpensive in European/American terms not sure about yours.<p>Ah yes EPE also have their own programming/breadboard kit called TK3 - the software is free and about to be updated.
