SEDOKU
Greetings: I am a SEDOKU aficionado. I have been on the market for a commercial made product with large size display without any success, so I have decided to make or modify one of the commercially available products to drive an LED display. Any ideas how to implement this modification?
Re: SEDOKU
I know about SEDOKU; I'm not aware of any commercially made products at all. I gather from what you write that such products as do exist have small displays, is that correct? What product are you thinking of modifying? It the readout LED or LCD?

Re: SEDOKU
Isn't it spelled sudoku?
anyway, if I understand correctly, you want to build a 9x9 array of single digit displays. This should be a straight-forward generalization of 7 Segment LED display projects.

I too am a Sudoku fan - I thought about writing a program to solve a Sudoku grid - but then- what would be the point ? If I had a program which would do the job then I would no longer ba able to enjoy the challenge of the game - I get a regular weekly one from a newspaper and it usually takes me anything from 1 to 3 hours to solve it

Sort of a crossword type numbers puzzle. Lots of newspapers are now carrying it.

Re: SEDOKU
Hi,
I have seen a SuDoku electronic game in the shops here. It's not so expensive, $30 I think. It has a LCD screen on it, not very big. 3"x3" or something like it. SuDoku is very big in Norway, lots of books and in all the newspapers.
To implement this in a small microcontroller and display it in a 9 by 9 7-seg LED grid shouldn't be too big. The real thing is to get the proper game setups. They are made after certain rules.

One of the Forrest Mimms books details how to make an led array ocilloscope. I feel sure you could build your project based on his publications. I believe the title was "engineers notebook".

Re: SEDOKU
I make a large 2 digit display, 5.5inches wide by
9 inches high. It has a four button controller: up,down, enter, and reset. It can be used in the open sunlight as well as indoors.
If your are interested email me.

Re: SEDOKU
This is a SuDoKu puzzle below - It is supposed to show a 9 x 9 matrix i.e. 81 cells - made of of 9 minor squares of 9 cells each. It has to be completed such that each horizontal row of 9 cells, each horizontal column of 9 cells and each of the 9 minor squares, contains each of the digits 1 - 9 once and once only. It will be interesting to see if anyone doea it

Re: SEDOKU
that got a little screwed up because the site/forum removed some, bit not all of spaces between horizontal lines of figures - but not from the horiizontal lines (----- )
It should read s 4 s 8 s s s s 3
s s s 9 s 2 8 s s
7 s 1 s s s s s 9
s 2 5 s 7 s s 6 s
s s s 2 s 3 s s s
s 1 s s 8 s 3 2 s
5 s s s s s 4 s 2
s s 6 4 s 8 s s s
1 s s s s 5 s 8 s
see what it does to this spacing ?

Re: SEDOKU
That wasn't quite so bad except that it removed all of the left hand spaces in all bar the top line
