Re: DVD disk question
Now that JPKNHTP has given a serious answer, I'll give an obvious answer:
2R
2R

JPKNHTP >>> thanks a lot
Re: DVD disk question
I would think that -2R is also a possibility?Originally posted by Dale Y:

TOK
Gorgon the Caretaker - Character in a childrens TV-show from 1968.
Re: DVD disk question
Actually JPKNHTP's definitions are incorrect. +r's are not multilayer media and are not slightly more expensive than -r's.

Re: DVD disk question
"whats the difference between DVD+R and DVD-R."
If R=1 then +R=1 and -R=-1, the difference is 2 or 2 times R.
If R=2 then +R=2 and -R=-2, the difference is 4 or 2 times R.
A joke, answering strickly what you asked for, even though it was obvious you wanted what JPKNHTP said.
Gorgon, with a quick look it seems -2R also satisfies the equation.
Cheers,
Code: Select all
DVD+R
-DVD-R
------
2R
If R=2 then +R=2 and -R=-2, the difference is 4 or 2 times R.

There appears to be more bandwidth wasted on this forum on inane attempts at humor than actual useful information.

Re: DVD disk question
I once was told that a stupid person is one that can't laugh at a joke.
"if it's not another it's one thing."
Re: DVD disk question
whatever!

Re: DVD disk question
I've always been told that DVD-R discs were more like true professionally pressed discs and should be used for better compatability especially in older drives.
Is this correct?

Re: DVD disk question
I don't know what the difference is between the two types, but I did a test, burning several movies to DVD using both +R and -R discs. I tried all of them in all of my DVD players. (They are starting to collect like old magazines around here) Half of the players would not play the +R discs. All of them played the -R discs. I also have a disc I recorded on an RCA DVD recorder about a year ago. I used a +R disc. Only one of my players can play it. (Not counting the RCA that made it.....That wasn't my machine) I copied that disc in my computer, using a -R disc for the destination. All of my players can play the -R copy.
Based on these results, I now buy only -R discs.
These results may be quirks of my players, or of my DVD drive in my computer, but they suggest that Mike may be right......-R is better for compatability.
