Im just tearing apart an old external modem for parts... mainely the big caps, etc... There is a chip marked:<p>Zilog Z8
Z0868108PSC
Z8 ROMLESS
8804 SL0879<p>Is this a varient of the z80? Useful?

Probably not be too useful - it's a one-time programmable chip (or mask programmed) so unless you're going to run the exact same code that's already in it for your own circuit, it's probably a throw-away...<p>You can look at Zilog's web page for more info, but the Z8 you have is a bit old, and the links appear to be incomplete.<p>www.zilog.com
