HIRED GUN FOR A CIRCUIT DESIGN

Post by bigkim100 »

Ok I need someones help designing a circuit for a industrial situation. I have to pay for it myself, can make it myself, but cannot design it. I've gotten a quote from a company in India, and its off the scale as far as price. It will not be used to make a profit, just to make my co-workers lives easier. If it ends up working well, in the future it may have a limited potential for sale within my small industry. I would sign a agreement with the designer of the circuit to share any profits that may come along in the future.
Its supposidly not a difficult circuit to design, according to the companty in India.
Anyone know of a Eledctronics engineer that would like to make a bit of cash, up front, for a circuit design?.
Let me know.
Kim :)

Sometimes I get lost in a cost effective realm where the price per semiconductor limits my thinking to the point where the objective is compromised.
An idea that has potential is copied and reproduced in ten different flavors long before the public makes a choice about it marketing has created a need for it. Companies that develope products are like agressive team sports battling for the title and the one that sells the most is the top dog. ( The biggest thief wins )
If you concider how a team of designers for an automobile works together to put out a finished product in 6 months from from concept to retail there is alot of paper, research and test marketing.
As an amature designer I look how the idea effects others as a whole and how is the idea lends itself to improving what it is displacing and to carefully contrast why it is responsible to release new information against why it is not responsible.
So first I am looking at it from a safety point of view then from a social point of view and then lastly an economic point of view. I sleep better when I know what I made is'nt hurting someone.

Yup Kim, you'll need to give just a little more info before someone says, 'yup Ill leap into the breach dear friend'!
So without publishing the idea, can you give a ballpark description of at least the sort of industry this is to work in - and is it a hostile environment, does it require PLC knowledge, will it require a specialist in a particular field?

You can do almost anything you need to do in an industrial setting with an off the shelf PLC. Check with IDEC.

Kim, your next logical step is good getting a local and asking for a signed non-disclosure statement is helpful so there are terms to protect your idea later if it developes.
I hope I was'nt discouraging. If you get someone to make a breadboard working model that you can play with you can probably take it from there.

I'd have to agree with Joe B on this one...
I've done some work before like this, and if
you actually want to sell it later an NDA is
needed. Even before you even outline your
idea to the engineer.

Can you give us an idea of what you want to do? The circuit may already exist and be part of the "public domain." Some circuits might be impossible to build. For instance a 100 watt stereo amplifier that runs on a single watch battery cannot be done with existing technology.
If the circuit truly needs to be designed from scratch, I doubt most people are going to "steal" the idea. Post here, if you would.
