XPLOD is Sony's trademark for their car audio equipment.
I think you'll find the part will have been stamped with a Sony part# even though it is made by someone else.
I'm afraid I don't feel like discombobulating my car to open up my sony to find out! ;)
colin

dacflyer de jetflyer:
Is that unit possibly your only heatsinked output device(s) and probably has ~ 6 or 8 ? leads, possibly offset in a SIP arrangement. That “T” alphabetical prefix made me want to think of a Toshiba manufactured device. I ran a check on a 1 as the missing front number of your devices suffix at:
http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/san ... 1.htm#1210 ...####7 1268

and this shows a Motorola and a Sony (CXA) device but natch, they wud have diff alph pref’s. Then considering a missing 2 at :
http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/san ... /icg22.htm ####7 2268
Found no “T” prefixes in that series .
Now Toshiba makes a series of AF output IC’s in the 6000 series . As seen at:
http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/san ... /icg60.htm ####7 6268
And heres some comparative data on Toshiba casing config on that series at:
http://www.toshiba.com/taec/cgi-bin/dis ... oryID=7079
Click on the Data sheet column and the diff device and compare.
Finally if U will go to :
http://www.tritronicsinc.com/lookup_cs.htm and plug your model into the 1st Box you will get the units major subassemblies………but they would have to pull their manual and further search down to your device.
In the future, the other initial references might come in mighty handy in research on prefixes and suffixes of many other IC’s that you might encounter.
73's de Edd

this radio belongs to a friend,,,its not mine..
bodgy ,,, if you read carefully , i said the numbers are partly missing....cause the chip

Yeah Yeah Dacflyer - I thought you were making a joke - as in the trade name of Sony's car audio stuff is EXPLOD or XPLOD and yours had exploded, a play on words or so I thought.
However the chip numbers may still be Sony specific even thought they could be one of the TDA range of chips.
And I'm still not going to take my Sony system out of my car to have a look. Have you ever tried working on a Nissan Sylvia (240SX in the US)?

dacflyer de jetflyer:
“a great help you are”
:(
With the subject and verb at the end… that seems to give it an abasing and degrading connotation. Hi !
Wasn’t expecting that many pins out on the Toshiba device U described. Invariably I find that suffix to be relevant to the leads mechanical configuration that the device is supplied in. In your case all leads are in the zig zag layout versus all leads coming out straight. I’ve certainly “mortified” a few thru the years with needlenose when I didn’t have devices with the desired lead forming !

dacflyer de jetflyer:
Looks like that units in a HZIP25P config on its casing…haven’t run across one used in anything I’ve repaired. The Toshiba TA8251*63*64*66*70*75*76 series of that AF pwr IC all seem to be the same except their power output specs and features whether they protect the spkrs as well as the power cut out and foldback parameters.Your 8268 is not in the line….like Sony might have acquired it as a proprietary device to them but its specs typically might fall between the 8266 and 8270 range plus that would let them establish whatever pricing they desire.
I don’t find it at the Sony parts site that I typically use when moonlighting on consumer prods at:
http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/
It usually requires their 800 # anyhow.
Another ref I use is :
http://partsolver.com/SearchResults.asp ... =11&Page=2
However if this ref times out…go down to the root URL and initiate a search with ur model #
Your part is listed about 2 from the bottom and the Sony part ref # of 8-759-827-14 then comes out also….notice the pricey $55 range.
You might check the specs on these parts bracketing the number you have at :
http://www.semicon.toshiba.co.jp/en/buc ... _50/TD.pdf
http://www.semicon.toshiba.co.jp/en/buc ... _52/TD.pdf
http://www.semicon.toshiba.co.jp/en/buc ... _53/TD.pdf
As one of these Toshibas might come in cheaper since they’re the OEM.
From an audiophiles viewpoint, totally all of these units are are crude on the THD specs.
If and when you replace, I usually supplement the heatsink's beryllium oxide (usually zinc oxide nowadays) with extra Z5 silicone, as,with time the miniscule amount they incorporate in their mix typically migrates laterally and leaves that semi device floating on a dry oxide barrier between it and the heat sink proper......thermal suicide!
73's de Edd
