Hey guys is the 16F84 chip powerful enough to take in 8 bits of data and compare it to information from RAM and set one of its pins low or high if the data matches?<p>If not, what do you recommend?

Well the answer is yes and maybe.<p>Yes it will do that, as will all uP's. The maybe is that depending on code size whether it would physically fit!<p>If you aren't the proud owner of a F84 chip just yet, you'd be better off with either a 16F628 (code,pin and price compatible) or the newer 18F252 - definitely enough space in the latter one - though not totally code compatible with the 16 series.<p>Colin<p>[ January 10, 2003: Message edited by: bodgy ]</p>
