This month's issue has an article about Electronic Slide Rules. Hey, why bother when I have some new-in-box student slide rules waiting to be claimed. If you correctly tell me what the cf and df scales are used for, one is yours if you pay the modest shipping and packing cost!

The cf and df scales are c and d scales multiplied by a constant (usually pi). The scales are used to minimize the distance the slide must travel for a multiplication or division operation.

What type of slide rules do you have?

Assuming that they might be at least Pickett quality or on up to a
K&E criterion. (Or 'jes a 'lil cheep Japonie bamboo unit like my first
one, that eventually used up a box of talcum powder maintaining
its "slipppicity"......LOL.)

I was a speed whiz in collegiate mathematics waaaay-waaaay back
in the ages before the simplest four banger hand calculators. Using a
24 inch slide rule, a standard length one and a rotary one, along with
all important log tables...plus a very important third type of simple
calculation device ...care to guess what that was ?

Sorry, I was behind the 8 ball for a while and didn't get back to the thread I started!

What I have are Pickett student slide rules, still in original, but old boxes/packaging. I guess $5 will cover the mailing to anyplace in the USA It's first come, first serve Three are available so do it now. No! My old K&E with the green covered instruction book, will not go!

By way of computational gadgets, more years ago than I want to remember I built an 'adding machine'. It was a grand beast, with Nixie tubes and old telephone stepper relays. Need I say more! I still have some Nixies and steppers someplace ....Hummmm

I've always liked my BAMBOO Post Versalog slide rules, both the 10" and the 5" model (I still have both). Pickett made 3000 models of their rules and I never liked them. If they didn't stick, the slide fell out onto the floor. With any use at all, they turned your fingers black and eventually the yellow paint started chipping off.
