RadioShack prototyping pcbs?

I was reading the article on breadboarding and saw the picture of the RadioShack 276-158B board, which has 3 hole pads and 2 busses running throughout (should have shown it in the article!). Great for IC projects when you need something bigger than the 1.5"x3" 276-150.

My problem is that all 3 radio shacks I've visited for a while never have it. They have small PCBs then the huge PCBs, and usually only a couple of each in stock.

Anyone know if its been discontinued or recommend any similar pcbs?

Been using those for years and it is the last great item left in radio shack these days. We have a number of RS in the area and it is hit and miss as far as them stocking these boards. If no success, then Google up Electronics Express. They carry the identical boards in their catalog. The last batch I bought from them were actually cheaper than RS.

If you want it so badly.
Just order it from Radio Shacks Online store.
www.radioshack.com
Or go to the nearest Radio Shack, and put the order though there,
and see if they can send it to your home.

I had a Video Card ordered through them, but I had it delivered to the
store so I didn't get charged extra shipping fees.

I always click the "find it near you" link in their on-line catalog. If it brings up a store that supposedly has the part I call them and ask and, if they say yes, most importantly, I ask them to go look to make sure.

Good point jimandy. :)

Many a time I've called, or just went by the on-line catalog showing that they had the item in stock, but they really didn't. :x

Thus, it is very important that the person on the other end of the phone.
Is willing to physically check if the item is on the shelve.
And remember too ask them to put the item aside for you.

Also, don't forget that other online retailers sell these, and even more useful prototyping items.

The way RadioShack is trending, and has been trending for some time, is to deemphasize/phase-out their in-store part shelves in favor for more layman friendly consumer items.

Further, their pricing doesn't really compete with other online retailers.

...or you can buy the same thing online at 1/4 the price.

RS is nice for the "I must have it today" item, but I find that happening less and less frequently. A dozen or so assorted breadboards from Circuit specialists is probably a year's supply for me, and the total price with shipping was about half what it would be at Radio Shack.

Hi GoingFast! I noticed that Radio shack still offers some PCB's online still. They had the 276-158, but not the 276-158B. In any case I thought I'd helped someone before on this but, the best place that I go to get the same (but much cheaper boards) is at MCM. Here is a page of PCBs that they sell:
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/search.aspx?C=&K=board

Does this help at all?

P.S. click on the (less than $3.99) selection on the left of the screen.
