Redesign RF Generator

Post by reckerd »

Can anyone tell me if they know of a way to replicate an RF signal with out using a tube?
I am attaching some schematics and would like to make the circuit but dont want to use a tube.
Thank you.

A capacitor with an indifferent plate - I like it!

Anyhow, I don't see it saying what type of triode is being used or what the voltage off the transformer is.

Theoretically you could replace the valve with a J-FET or maybe a dualgate MOSFET assuming the voltage off the transformer is in line with a semiconductors expectations.

Might have to alter some resistor values and the neon and lamp would either be removed or substituted.

Looks like an antique medical gadget of some kind?
Do you have one that's broken, or are you trying
to build another from drawings?

I doubt this would be considered "safe" by today's
standards. Is there a modern equivalent?

You diagram lacks some key data to know accurately
what the circuit does (okay, it's a power oscillator),
or what power level it generates.

What are you planning to do with it?

Realising that it says COAG and not COAX, perhaps it is a cauterising device?

OR

An RF induced heater for cutting polystyrene or melting glue.

The first one. It's used for dental surgery. The circuit presented
is almost the same as the one found in US Patent 3730188 issued
to Ellman in the early 1970s. Good for 50 Watts!
