Is it Possible to Build an Inexpensive Geiger Counter?

Post by Ronvivi »

Hello folks:<p>I have been away from Nuts and Volts for a while but my five years as a subscriber showed me the quality of the content inside and the vast competence of the readership. I would like to build an inexpensive reliable Geiger counter. Is it possible to achieve this without costing an arm and a leg. I would like to build one that is portable, lightweight, not big or bulky and will not interfere with sensitive electronic systems. I would even entertain links to the type described above where they are for sale. All ideas will be considered. Thank you in advance.

Yes it's possible to build a guiger counter. You can probably find one cheaper surplus than you can build. I have seen many over the years for reasonable prices......check out www.geocities.com/geigercounters
