ultra low power mic preamp

Post by SETEC_Astronomy »

Can anyone suggest a simple, low parts count and low power mic preamp? I would prefer a design that doesn't invole an IC. I need this for a project that works but I have to speak to loudly for it to function correctly and would like to give the mic a bit of a boost so I can use the circuit with a normal level of speech. Any ideas?

Would a transistor be acceptable?

A transistor would be great. I forgot to mention this earlier and since it makes a difference my circuit has 5VDC available to power any solution.

SETEC_ Astronomy,

This circuit will work. Just need to adjust Rb value as specified for best audio quality. Not a critical adjustment.

Thanks it works great and has a current consumption of 670uA. Well done!
