Depending on the age of your children and how much they like or dislike maths, there is Electronics, Mechs, Maths and Computing, which has nice active diagrams and some self testing calculators. This is paid for software

Correction - it now appears to be a free download - maybe this is just for Christmas?

They can be found at www.eptsoft.com and a trial version can be downloaded.

Although not software, the printable web based books at Ibiblio by Tony Kuphaldt are excellent http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/electricCircuits/.

Other than that - some good books (yes not software) are some of the GSCE books on electronics for secondary schools in the UK.
