Sunlight Viewable Lap Top ?

Post by markp »

I need an old Lap Top to run DOS with a clear sunlight viewable screen.
The Lap Top should have a floppy and, hopefully, a parallel port. I would prefer an IBM Thinkpad but would like any suggestion. The machine will be used in a very bright environment reprogram PIC processors.
There are thousands of old Lap Tops available but I'm not sure of the exact screen definitions. The ex-military units have great screens but no floppy or ports.
Thanks.

Any computer with a USB port can handle the external drives, ports etc.
Just find a screen type your happy with and the computer has USB port and the rest you can purchase and plug in.

Since I'm forced to use DOS ( and that's a very long story ), any USB device isn't a solution because there are no DOS USB drivers. Neither is a PCMCIA PC card driver available.
Maybe the question should be: Which LCD display technology gives the best viewing in very high light environments?

The silver-black screens with no backlights are STN , I think.
Those laptops are pre-pentium (386 or older) and probably really cheap on ebay.
