Managed to wash the new Ipod Nano in the Maytag,
now it don't work. Found lots of stuff on how to open earlier generation ipods, but nothing on the
new Nano.
Does anyone know how to open the case?
I think it prys open with great care, but it would be nice to hear how others have managed.
Happy New Year.

Re: Ipod Nano in the washer.
REMOVE THE BATTERIES NOW!!!!
Then take a hair dryer on low and heat the thing up to dry it out. Maybe you will get lucky. Possibly heating it in an oven on LOW (read VERY LOW) might dry it out as well.
Just some suggestions.

Re: Ipod Nano in the washer.
I agree and have flushed it alcohol and put it in 100 degree F oven. The problem is how to open the case and not damage it. Since this is a relitively new product there is not a lot of DIY info out yet. Thanks for your suggestions.

If that unit got washed, doesn’t sound good at all !
See how relevant this might be to your particular unit:

Since I am not familiar with the NANO version

Re: Ipod Nano in the washer.
Thank Edd.
I figured out how to open the little beast, and it was the same as you wrote. However, I made
little wedged picks out of 1/8 diameter bamboo
sticks that were in the kitchen drawer. They worked fine, were strong enough, and the bamboo is easy to cut to various thicknesses. I started
at one corner and used my finger nails to open the case enough to place the first wedge. Then I
used a combination of adding more wedges as I slid them down the seam. The only damage was a
broken thumb nail, those retaining clips really want to keep the case togeather.

Re: Ipod Nano in the washer.
Reading the descriptions now makes so much sense; the battery is sealed inside the unit. I read where Apple was upset that third party batteries had been made available. My understanding is that Apple wants $100 for a battery and third parties were wanting only $30 (and I say only). I thought the batteries on these slid on the back like a cell phone. It appears from your descriptions that the battery is sealed inside. Brilliant for Apple's bottom line, insane for the poor consumers.

Do you still have the receipt? Take it back and say it just stopped working...

It doesn't matter. All is lost. Apple is gonna put Intel chips in a Macintosh! Woe is us.
