Adware becomming unmanagable

Post by MrAl »

Hello there,

It seems that the adware now is quickly becomming unmanagable.
The number of hits have increased greatly since a few weeks ago.
Today there were about 20 posts that had to be deleted, and
some of them were tacked on to the end of a normal thread so
the topic has to be split before they can be deleted.
I think the admin(s) will have to do something now to prevent
this kind of thing during the registration process, or give the
moderators more control to be able to eliminate posts from a
given user name so that all of their posts can be deleted with one
click. Right now it takes much time to go through all the posts and
split topic and then come back and delete. A faster way is needed
to delete the trash.

Adware

Mr. Al: I agree with you 100%. If someone posts something with an ad attached you should have the ability to shitcan them immediately & block their e-mail address and/or their doman name.
Do not waste your time splitting up messages & then deleting the ad.
I do not know if spammers can know if they are being blocked or if they are just not getting any response to their message. If they do not any response to their message, for whatever reason I.E. being blocked or people just not responding, they might just go away and leave us alone.

Take care & be careful

I think the easiest thing would be to upgrade these forums to the latest version. That would stop the spammer from even registering. In the meantime, their accounts can be disabled.

I run a message board using the same software as this, and have had no spammers since the update.

The website for this software is www.phpbb.com.

Hello again,

This time there were about 5 hits per subject with the posts tacked
on to the end of another subject. There were more subjects too
bringing the total to something like 30 hits. That was within about
a 12 hour period.
