I was wondering that to improve security and spam on this forum, the people who run this site can install security mods. It seems this forum is running phpBB v2 and I was wondering if this forum is going to be upgraded to phpBB v3 (or currently codenamed "Olympus"). To those who run this site, maybe you can try out this mods to protect members and block spammers:

I suspect that these spammers comprise two or three dedicated people who are using NAT judging by some of the IP's they are posting from.

Those who aren't using NAT, seem to be from the Ukraine and United Arab Emirates, once or twice form Germany and a couple via AOL, though of course as AOL uses a block IP not sure which country the actual person is residing.

Replying to them just gives them succor, so it is rather pointless apart from if we want to check the IP's - it creates more work in delting the thread.

I have already emailed Larry (a month or two ago) about the number of bogus members. Only Admins can delete members.

Hey - Just to let you guys know we are aware of the spam problem. We are going to be dealing with is ASAP! We are in the middle of some very big projects on the Nuts & SERVO site - and they will be moved soon - so that will affect the way some of the software runs. So until we move we dont want to do too many updates on the site.

But it shouldn't be to much longer guys! I do check the forum as much as possible to delete the crap!

Oh. and Chris Smith - Your last reply to a SPAMMER was:
Definition of insanity: doing it over and over while expecting a different result.
LOL! - uh - isnt that what you are doing when you reply to the spam? LOL! Do you expect a different result?

I read on the phpBB forum that 3.0 is near release finally - so hopefully when we move the sites the update will be ready for install!

Regards,
Michael Kaudze

Absolutely, but silence in this case is even worse.

Whats the old saying....first they came for ####7 and I was silent,....... followed by.......

and then they came for me and no one was left standing there to protest.

Never give an inch.

You act like its you that has something to say.
We listen, we laugh at your inexperience, what’s new?
Did the manufacture tell you to speak yet?

funny, you seem to have a lot to say to spammers. you seem to be doing it over and over again, expecting a different result.

By the way, who is "we" in this case? I've always thought of you as a team of 1.
