is this spam? it doesn't fit the degular definition. I get a local file error when viewing it but the page source has a real link - spyware or something?

I got an error on my first try but the 2nd try worked and it opened. It's almost like the classic sailor kissing girl pix so famous at the end of WWII but not quite.

I wonder why she (?) does not have an option. Seems like there are lots of options other than the N&V forum.

this is very off topic, and may be removed shortly!!

However that photograph is a famous one by a photographer whose name I forget - he died recently. The photo was taken in France possibly Paris.

The lady in the photograph recently celebrated something, maybe a book launch - she was/is a well known French actress IIRC (in France).

The man was selected at random and it is not known who he is, or what happened to him.

The photo was subject to recent 'fancy that' type news reports.

Strange. While it might be SPAM I'd ask that the moderators NOT delete this thread; for now at least.

It is slightly off topic but not beyond the realm of certain people on this board; such as myself. While many may consider this to be not something "technical" it is in a way. As part of my job I have to investigate computer fraud, network security, and hacking. This challenge was a VERY SIMPLE one and I was able to locate the answer in about ten minutes using the same processes I do to find other answers within a computer system, network, or on the Internet.

The woman in this picture is Francosie Bornet. This picture was taken in Paris by Rober Doisneau. The title of the photo is "The Kiss at City Hall". About a year and a half ago (April 2005) the original print sold for US$250,000, or 155,000 Euros. You can read about it here:

For those of you wondering, no, I did not know the name of the woman, the photographer, or the photo before seeing it posted on Nuts & Volts. I did find this answer in about ten minutes on my own. According to the link above (for those that didn't read it) the man was Bornet's boyfriend. It was supposed to be a spontaneous kiss but was posed.

While I may be "duped" and this may be SPAM to get someone to buy this picture, I hope the moderators will leave it posted at least for a little while.

Thanks

Actually, I recall the story now, I knew I'd seen it on a news report recently.

I recall Francoise Bornet, was interviewed, and said that the relationship didn't work out, and he disappeared and hasn't been traced since.

seeing as how you found the newspaper link, in Australia, just for completeness the news report was on SBS in Australia.
