IR question..

using 3v, how can i light up a IR led (remote control type)? i had one liying around and have no specifications on it. any help appreciated.<p>ivan

My IR LED drops 1 volt, so assuming yours is similar, figure 2 volts across a resistor in series. Using Ohm's Law: R=V/I. If you don't know the current, use 20 mA then R=200 ohms.

i did what you previously said to, to test the IR LED and it worked nicely. Thanx alot for the help. <p>ivan
