Mentoring near Alpharetta, GA

Post by JavaBen »

I've developed a controller using a AVR uProcessor. I use it to read thermocouples, and control an air-supply valve to my BBQ Smoker. It communicates to a web server front end via RS232.
It's currently all hard-wired, connected to a prototype board.
I've used some software to design a PCB board (Eagle), and would like to produce a PCB board from a commercial place I see advertised in N&V, but I'm lost.
You would think that, having written the software for the controller, the web server, the thermocouple hardware, that this shouldn't be a big deal......
I would like to find someone in the Alpharetta GA area (North Atlanta) that has some experience in this area that could mentor me.
Thanks,
Ben

I'm in Kansas, but... Not many board houses can
work with the Eagle .brd files. You need to
produce "Gerber" files to send out to them. This
can be done with Eagle. Look through the "help"
files, or check out their website below.
CadSoft - EagleCAD site
Hope this helps some,

Me again,
If it is a fairly simple board, 2 sides
max. I may be able to make one piece for you.
Depending on how many vias, and the tracewidths.
I have access to a router that makes nice proto
boards. If you are interested, send me the
eagle .brd file, or the gerber files. I'll
ask you to pay shipping, but no more.
Let me know if you are interested,
Dave

Dave,
I appreciate very much your offer of assistance.
I plan on taking you up on it, and will be in contact with you soon. My wife and I are getting ready to go on vacation, and I'm trying to finish up some of the software that I'm writing for the PC to communicate with the uProcessor, so it may be the 1st of July before I can work on this with your help.
Thanks very much!
Ben

Hi Ben,
I'm in no hurry, and will be around when
you become ready. I'll have to evaluate the
complexity, once I get the files... so - no
promises yet. I'll be happy to help if I am
capable though. You are very welcome!
