Emad,

I am not even close to being a genius but you can't go wrong with building Boebot by Parallax as your start.

It comes with a Basic Stamp II and all the stuff you need to build a robot. You can either use the chasis and drive that comes with it or build your own. It is very easy to program. Best of all it is inexpensive(you can get on sale for about $150). I built the Boebot and got it going on a few simple programs all in about 20 minutes after I took it out of the box. I built my first robot ("Rat") about 30 years ago and the Boebot puts poor old "Rat" to shame. If you build the robot and go through all of the projects that are layed out in the included book, you will be on a right start!

What kind of robot are you looking to build? You should understand that before doing anything else.

I see you live in egypt so you might have trouble getting stuff from the EU or USA but there are lots of kits in the 100-200 $us range. If you can get stuff from the USA, I'd get the minisumo Mark III. It's a nice robot kit for $92 USD. It comes with a really nice controller board with a PIC16F877+bootloader (no programmer required). You get a BASIC compiler with it as well. It's a bargain if you can get it shipped to egypt.

If the kit or shipping is a problem, there are several books that might be of interest but the one I'd recommend is called "Junkbots, Bugbots and Bots on Wheels" by Hrynkiw & Tilden. The subtitle is "Building simple robots with BEAM technology" . The basic concept is building simple robots with scrounged parts from broken VCRs and other gear. Its a great way to learn the concepts with out buying an expensive kit. This stuff is getting a little old now but may apply where access to components is difficult. Some BEAM links:
